Message from the President
As the mother of a child with Autism, I have a very personal connection to this organization. Autism LifeSpan strives to promote lifelong access and opportunity for all individuals within the autism spectrum and their families. We are here to improve the lives of those affected by Autism through education, support, advocacy and public awareness.
We serve Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, and Trinity counties. Our members are mostly individuals and families with children of all ages with autism. However, our membership also includes service providers, agency staff, educators and professionals who are interested in furthering our mission. Our membership is open to any individual, family, or community member.
Our office publishes a newsletter and maintains an extensive book and video lending library so our membership may keep up with the latest news and developments. We provide a comprehensive support system for individuals with autism and their families. Educate the general community and families affected by autism on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, special education, services and therapies. We advocate for children and adults on the autism spectrum.
Our latest goal is to establish an annual autism awareness event in April. April is National Autism Awareness month.
We also have a monthly Meet and Greet for parents and caregivers of children of all ages with developmental delays. Together we are a strong a support system and source of information.
We are a great resource for education and information. So please come by during our office hours and check out what we offer.
Sincerely,
Shawn Christopherson
